Grower Tips:

Plants will rot if over-wintered too wet. Good airflow is required in growing area to keep the foliage dry.

Growing Temperature:

55-60° F

Holding Temperature:

40-50° F

Soil PH:

5.5-6.0

EC (What is EC?):

1.0-1.5 pour through method

Fertility:

If grown at too high of fertility levels, plants tend to open in the center. Low fertilization rates of 50-75 ppm are recommended.

For Controlled Release or Slow Release Fertilizer, see your preferred supplier for recommended rates for incorporation or top dressing, as it varies by fertilizer.

Vernalization:

Not required but is beneficial for plant vigor.

Pests & Diseases:

Aphids and whitefly.

Downy mildew, root, stem and crown rot, rust.

Potting & Timing:

Bare root plants may need to be trimmed to fit into containers.
Growing at temperatures higher than 75° F will cause the plant to "melt-out" and lose their soft mounded habit.

Moisture:

Requires low moisture levels, plants do not like to be wet.
Water in well at planting time, water again when soil is dry. If kept too moist, plants are more likely to open up in the center.

Planting Level:

Place crown just below soil line, plug even with the soil line.

PGRs/Pinching:

It is best to grow Artemisia cool and dry to keep plants compact and healthy. Provide proper spacing to avoid plants growing into each other.

Lighting:

Requires high light levels for best results.
