Fertility:

After new leaves emerge use a water-soluble fertilizer, solutions of 50-100 ppm at each watering.

Vernalization:

Provide 6-9 weeks of temperatures below 40° F.

Pests & Diseases:

There are normally no major problems, especially in northern areas. In climates with hot nights, fungal problems may result when rain or irrigation water collects in the depression of the leaves and tight crowns. A fungicide program may be necessary in these areas.

Moisture:

For potting soil use commercial planting media.
During active growth keep the soil consistently moist.
Allow plants to dry thoroughly between waterings, increase watering as the foliage emerges.
