Fertility:
Fertilize at every watering with 200-250 ppm N from 20-10-20, alternating with 14-0-14. Once plants are established, feed weekly with 400 ppm N. Avoid ammonia-based fertilizers because ammonia is not readily converted to nitrate under cool growing conditions.
For Controlled Release or Slow Release Fertilizer, see your preferred supplier for recommended rates for incorporation or top dressing, as it varies by fertilizer.
Pests & Diseases:
Slugs, swift moth larvae, two-spotted mites, spider mites (in greenhouse)
Potting & Timing:
Plant under cooler temperatures for best results.
Large plugs are great for full one gallon or two gallon containers.
Moisture:
Allow plants to dry thoroughly between waterings.
Planting Level:
Shallow, so rhizome is 1 inch below soil surface.
PGRs/Pinching:
Responds to pruning for height control; the more they are pruned, the more compact they grow. Every 2-3 weeks, shape plants by pulling out dead and weak stems. This will encourage the growth of new shoots.
Lighting:
Provide high light levels.
