Grower Tips:

It is best to plant small plugs like 128ct plugs in late summer for spring sales. The flower performance will be much better when forced from a bulked finished container that has been vernalized.

Fertility:

Performs best with a constant liquid fertilization program, feeding at rates of 50 ppm nitrate.

For Controlled Release or Slow Release Fertilizer, see your preferred supplier for recommended rates for incorporation or top dressing, as it varies by fertilizer.

Vernalization:

Required for flowers. 6-8 weeks at 40° F or below.

Pests & Diseases:

Whiteflies, sluga, snails, Southern root-knot nematode

Rot (Sclerotium), crown rot, leaf spot (Corynespora, South), leaf spot (Myrothecium, South)

Potting & Timing:

Plant in well-drained soilless media.
Drench with a broad spectrum fungicide at time of planting.

Moisture:

Ajuga prefer to be consistently moist but not soggy.

Planting Level:

Plant plug even with the soil surface.

PGRs/Pinching:

Avoid using PGRs as Ajuga can be extremely sensitive to them.
