Fertility:

Feed 125 - 150 ppm N at each watering.

For Controlled Release or Slow Release Fertilizer, see your preferred supplier for recommended rates for incorporation or top dressing, as it varies by fertilizer.

Vernalization:

Not all varieties require vernalization, but will lower well under a wider range of light intensities and photoperiods following a cold treatment. It is recommended to provide at least 10 weeks of temperatures below 45° F.

Pests & Diseases:

Generally pest free. Avoid overwatering as it may lead to crown or root rot.

Potting & Timing:

Use well-drained media to keep plants from remaining too wet. Small plugs can be planted late summer to bulk prior to vernalization.

Moisture:

Keep soil evenly moist, avoiding excessively dry or wet media.

Planting Level:

Top of plug should be level with the soil line.

PGRs/Pinching:

Often not required, but if needed sprays of 2000 ppm Daminozide/1000 ppm Cycocel or Daminozide alone at 5000 ppm are effective.

Growth regulator rates are suggestions but may vary due to time of year, region and water quality. Trialing is always recommended before applying to an entire crop.

Lighting:

Stokesia flower quicker under long day conditions. High light levels are best.
