Pests & Diseases:

Aphids, thrip, and spider mites are most common.
Root and crown rot can be problematic under wet growing conditions or if planted too deep.

Potting & Timing:

Plant plugs in late summer for proper bulking time. Bare root is the best option for spring.
If small plugs are purchased in spring, plant them in a 1 quart container rather than a 1 gallon.

Moisture:

Moderate moisture is best. Water thoroughly and then allow plants to dry slighlty. Avoid wet conditions.

Planting Level:

Crown at soil line or top of plug level with soil line.

Lighting:

Long days required for flowering. High light levels are best.
