Fertility:

Feed at moderate rates of 75-125 ppm N at each watering.

Vernalization:

Cold beneficial, provide 8-10 weeks of cold temperatures below 45° F.

Pests & Diseases:

Mites and thrips are the most problematic pests.

Leaf spotting from Colletotrichum (Anthracnose) or Phyllosticta can affect the foliage.

Potting & Timing:

Plant small plugs in late summer to bulk for the following spring sales. Bare root is a great spring planting option.

Moisture:

Moderate to moist conditions are best.

Planting Level:

Crown slightly below the soil line.

PGRs/Pinching:

Cool temperatures work well to keep the plants more compact. Small plugs should be pinched shortly after transplanting.

Lighting:

High light levels are best for optimum growth.
