Fertility:

Apply a constant feed of fertilizer at 100-150ppm N, 10-20 ppm P, and 100-150 ppm K, (or 20-10-20).

Vernalization:

Not required but is beneficial for increased size and number of flowers.

Pests & Diseases:

Whiteflies and aphids.

Potting & Timing:

Tap root can be trimmed slightly if necessary to fit in pot.
This tap root needs to be planted high. The upper bulkier part of the root should protrude about 1 inch above the soil line once the soil settles.

Moisture:

For potting soil use Commercial planting media.
Let plants dry thoroughly between waterings and avoid water-logging. Keep on the dry side.

Planting Level:

Plant high.

PGRs/Pinching:

B-Nine at 2500 ppm 1-2 applications 14 days apart.
Sumagic at 5 ppm 1-2 applications.

Lighting:

Grow under high light levels. Platycodon flowers 7-10 days quicker under long days.

Other Comments:

Platycodon is late in breaking dormancy, so be patient. Warmer temperatures will hasten plant development.

Overwintering InformationIt is important to keep platycodon on the dry side. They do not enjoy excessive amounts of moisture.
